Mastronardi Produce adds 91 acres of Canadian greenhouse capacity | The Packer
Mastronardi Produce says it has added 91 acres of Canadian greenhouse capacity, which includes a newly constructed 27-acre glass greenhouse facility in Kingsville, Ontario, that will provide lit production in the winter of local Sunset branded produce.
In addition to this greenhouse, Mastronardi Produce will serve as the exclusive long-term marketer for two additional facilities: J.C. Fresh Farms Ltd. (32 acres in Kingsville) and Orangeline Farms Limited (32 acres in Leamington, Ontario), according to a news release. This collaboration helps secure the 91 total acres of production capacity, which Mastronardi Produce says enhances its commitment to providing fresh, high-quality produce to customers.
“This additional greenhouse acreage allows us to further our mission of delivering WOW flavor experiences with locally grown fruits and vegetables,” said Paul Mastronardi, president and CEO of Mastronardi Produce. “We are excited about these additional farms, as the increased acreage will play a vital role in supporting our continued growth in Canada and ensuring we meet the rising demand for Sunset branded produce.”
The new glass greenhouse facility, completed in 2020, utilizes advanced technology and lighting to optimize growing conditions, ensuring high-quality produce, the release said.
The Kingsville-based, fourth-generation family-owned Mastronardi Produce says it continues to innovate and expand its operations to meet the growing demand for its innovative and flavorful Sunset branded produce, ensuring its products maintain the exceptional flavor and quality.
